Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using Revise Notes. By accessing or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. The service

Revise Notes is a free, browser-based study tool that uses AI to help you analyse and understand documents you upload.

AI features are powered by third-party providers:

  • OpenAI — answers, quiz generation, flashcard generation, and document embeddings (semantic search).
  • Google Gemini — revision notes generation.

Your raw files are extracted locally in your browser — the binary file is never uploaded to our servers. However, the extracted plain text of your documents is sent to these providers' APIs to generate AI responses. Requests are proxied through our server infrastructure solely to keep API keys secure. We do not log or retain your document content beyond the duration of each request.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Revise Notes. If you are under 18, you must have parental consent. By using the service you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Your content and responsibility

You are solely responsible for any documents and content you upload. By uploading content, you confirm that:

  • You have the right to use and process that content.
  • The content does not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights.
  • You will not upload illegal, harmful, or offensive material.

Revise Notes does not access, monitor, or retain your uploaded content on any server. All processing is local to your browser.

4. AI-Generated Content & Hallucinations

Important: All AI-generated outputs — revision notes (Google Gemini), quizzes (OpenAI), flashcards (OpenAI), and answers (OpenAI) — are created by machine learning models and may contain inaccuracies, hallucinations, or false information. AI models sometimes generate plausible-sounding but factually incorrect statements.

Your responsibility as a user:

  • Always verify outputs against your original source materials before using them for study or assessment.
  • Cross-check facts, dates, and definitions with authoritative sources or your course materials.
  • Review quiz questions and explanations to ensure they accurately reflect the material you studied.
  • Review flashcard content — fronts and backs may not always perfectly reflect the source material.
  • Do not submit AI-generated content as your own work without proper citation and your institution's permission for AI use.
  • Use these tools as study aids only, not as substitutes for reading, understanding, and thinking critically about your material.

Revise Notes is a study support tool, not an authoritative source. The responsibility for accuracy and appropriate use of AI-generated content rests entirely with you, the user.

5. Do not upload sensitive information

You agree not to upload documents containing sensitive personal data, passwords, financial credentials, medical records, or confidential business information. Document text is sent to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Google) during processing — do not upload content you would not share with these providers. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.

File uploads are limited to approximately 150 pages per file and300 pages per topic to ensure reasonable performance.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use Revise Notes only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Upload, transmit, or process any content that is illegal, harmful, defamatory, or infringes third-party rights.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service, its servers, or any systems connected to the service.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the application.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, scrapers, or data-mining tools to access or extract content from the service.
  • Reproduce, copy, sell, or exploit any part of the service or its AI-generated outputs for commercial purposes without our written consent.
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any other malicious code.
  • Use the service in any way that could disable, overburden, or impair it, or interfere with other users' access.
  • Use the service in a manner inconsistent with any applicable laws or regulations.

We reserve the right to restrict or block access to the service, including at the IP level, for any user who breaches these terms, without notice and at our sole discretion.

7. Intellectual property

The Revise Notes application, its design, and its code are the property of their respective creators. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the application or any part of it without permission.

AI-generated outputs (revision notes, quizzes, flashcards, answers) are provided as-is for personal study purposes. They do not constitute professional, legal, or academic advice.

8. Availability and modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part ofRevise Notes at any time without notice, including to perform maintenance, fix bugs, or change features. We cannot guarantee the service will be available at all times. We accept no liability for any loss, damage, or inconvenience caused by interruptions, downtime, or discontinuance of the service.

We may also update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Revise Notes is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate. You use the service at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Revise Notes and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including loss of data or reliance on AI-generated content, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damage.

11. General

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of Revise Notesand supersede all prior agreements or understandings.

No waiver. Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not operate as a waiver of that right or provision.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision is deemed severable and does not affect the validity of the remaining provisions.

Force majeure. We shall not be responsible or liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, network failures, or third-party service outages.

No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates a joint venture, partnership, employment, or agency relationship between you and us.

Electronic communications. By using the service you consent to receiving communications from us electronically. You agree that all notices and agreements provided electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the jurisdiction in which the service operator is located.
